Nagpur: A dispute allegedly arising out of a love affair turned fatal in Nagpur’s Yashodhara Nagar area after a violent altercation between two friends ended in the death of a young man on Tuesday.

The incident occurred near a paan kiosk at Tipu Sultan Square in Sangharsh Nagar, under the jurisdiction of Yashodhara Nagar Police Station, creating tension in the locality.

The deceased has been identified as Salman Ashfaq Ansari, a resident of Sangharsh Nagar. Police have identified Muzammil, also from the same area, as the accused in the case. According to police sources, the accused is reportedly known to law enforcement and has previous criminal records.

As per preliminary findings, the dispute is suspected to have stemmed from Salman’s alleged relationship with a young woman who was known to the accused. The issue reportedly led to an argument between the two, which later escalated into a physical confrontation.

During the clash, Salman suffered severe injuries. Investigators are also examining whether a weapon was used during the assault, though officials are yet to confirm this.

Following the incident, Salman was rushed to Mayo Hospital for medical treatment, where doctors declared him dead.

After receiving information about the incident, teams from Yashodhara Nagar Police Station along with Crime Branch Unit-5 reached the scene and initiated an investigation.

Police were completing legal procedures to register a murder case against the accused. Investigators are now working to establish the exact sequence of events and verify all circumstances surrounding the fatal assault.
