Nagpur: Acting on a tip-off, the Crime Branch Unit 1 of Nagpur Police busted an illegal gambling operation being run near Rachna Metro Station, MIDC area, on Tuesday night.

The accused, identified as Satish Sukhdev Funde (35), a resident of Sai Nagar, Datt Layout, was caught red-handed accepting cash bets on satta numbers for personal profit.

During the raid, police seized ₹4,500 in cash, a mobile phone, an electronic calculator, and other betting-related material — collectively valued at ₹16,700. A case has been registered under Section 12(A) of the Maharashtra Gambling Prevention Act at MIDC Police Station based on the complaint by Police Constable Pritam Yadav.

The operation was carried out under the supervision of DCP (Detection) Rahul Makanikar and ACP (Crime) Abhijit Patil, led by PI Amol Deshmukh, PSI Sachin Bhonde, and their team.
