Nagpur Hit-and-Run Case: MIDC Police Register Offence Against Unknown Auto Driver

Nagpur: The MIDC Police in Nagpur have registered a case against an unidentified auto-rickshaw driver following a fatal hit-and-run accident that claimed the life of a 19-year-old youth.


The incident occurred around 3:30 PM on May 11, 2026, near Panchsheel Nagar Chowk on Hingna Road under the MIDC Police Station jurisdiction.


According to police reports, Prakash Gajanan Vaidya (19), a resident of Rai Town, Isasani, Nagpur, was walking along the road when an unidentified auto-rickshaw driver allegedly hit him from behind while driving at high speed in a rash and negligent manner.


The accused driver fled the spot after the collision, leaving the victim seriously injured. The victim was rushed to Lata Mangeshkar Hospital for treatment, where doctors declared him dead after examination.


Based on a complaint lodged by Pankaj Pradyumna Vaidya (41), a resident of Dattaguru Jeevan Chhaya Society, Swawlambi Nagar, Nagpur, MIDC Police Sub-Inspector Kishori Mane registered a case against the unknown auto driver under Sections 106(1) and 281 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita along with Sections 134 and 187 of the Motor Vehicles Act.


Police have launched a search operation to trace the accused driver, and further investigation is ongoing.
