Nagpur: In a major crackdown under “Operation Narcos,” the Railway Protection Force (RPF) of South East Central Railway (SECR), Nagpur Division, arrested four interstate drug smugglers in two separate operations conducted aboard long-distance trains. Authorities seized more than 68 kilograms of ganja valued at over Rs 34 lakh during the raids.
The operations were carried out in coordination with state police and other law enforcement agencies as part of an ongoing anti-narcotics campaign launched under the guidance of Divisional Security Commissioner Deep Chandra Arya.
Two Arrested with Over 16 Kg Ganja on Bhubaneswar-LTT Express
On May 8, 2026, the special RPF team conducted checking operations on Train No. 12880 Bhubaneswar-Lokmanya Tilak Terminus (LTT) Express between Salekasa and Gondia.
During inspection of the general coach, officials detained two suspects identified as:
- Rocky Kumar
- Sanatan Bhoi
The accused were found carrying two trolley bags containing 16.374 kilograms of ganja worth approximately Rs 8.18 lakh. The narcotic substance was detected based on its strong odor during the search operation.
After completing legal formalities, the seized contraband and the accused were handed over to Government Railway Police (GRP), Gondia. A case under the NDPS Act was registered on May 8, 2026, and further investigation is underway.
Massive 52 Kg Ganja Haul Recovered on Puri-Ahmedabad Express
In another major operation on May 9, 2026, the RPF divisional task team conducted checking aboard Train No. 12843 Puri-Ahmedabad Express between Gondia and Nagpur.
During inspection between Kanhan and Nagpur in AC Coach A-1, berth number 40, officials identified two suspicious passengers traveling from Khallikote railway station to Surat.
The accused were identified as:
- Sriharsha Mohanty
- Sipun Gouda
Officials recovered two backpacks and two trolley bags suspected to contain narcotic substances. Upon arrival at Nagpur railway station, the bags were examined with the assistance of GRP’s NDPS detection dog “Sikandar,” which confirmed the presence of ganja.
Authorities seized 52.04 kilograms of ganja valued at approximately Rs 26.02 lakh. Police also confiscated two iPhones, one OnePlus mobile phone, and the luggage bags used in transportation.
The accused and seized items were later handed over to GRP Itwari for further legal proceedings. A case under the NDPS Act was registered on May 10, 2026.

The Railway Protection Force, South East Central Railway, Nagpur Division, has appealed to passengers to immediately report any suspicious person, activity, or unattended luggage found in trains, railway stations, or station premises.
