Nagpur: In a tragic incident, a 42-year-old doctor working as a Resident Medical Officer (RMO) at Neuron Brain, Spine & Critical Care Centre in Dhantoli allegedly died by suicide on Monday morning after administering himself an anesthetic injection.

The deceased, Dr. Ishwarchandra Narhari Chandewar, a resident of Shivshakti Nagar, Manewada, was also associated with the hospital’s administrative work. According to police, he had been under significant mental stress for several days, reportedly due to ongoing family disputes.

Dr. Chandewar arrived at the hospital around 7 am and entered his chamber as part of his routine. When he did not respond for over two hours, colleagues grew concerned. The door was locked from inside, prompting hospital authorities to call the police. Upon entering, he was found unconscious and was later declared dead by fellow doctors.

Preliminary investigation suggests he injected himself with an excessive dose of anesthetic, leading to unconsciousness and death. He is survived by his wife and a 15-year-old son.

Dhantoli police have registered an accidental death case and initiated further investigation to determine the exact circumstances behind the incident.
