Nagpur: MIDC Police arrested a man for allegedly creating panic in public while carrying a deadly weapon and violating prohibitory orders in the MIDC police station area.
According to police, at around 2:02 am on June 22, 2026, a MIDC police patrol team received information that a man was standing in an open ground near the church at Bhim Nagar carrying a weapon, abusing passersby, and creating a public disturbance.
Acting swiftly, police reached the location and spotted a person matching the description. The team surrounded the suspect, took him into custody, and disarmed him.
During questioning conducted in the presence of witnesses, the accused identified himself as Shakti Lalji Vishwakarma (31), resident of Plot No. 7, New Dadaji Nagar, Jaitala, Nagpur.
Police recovered and seized one iron knife worth approximately ₹200 from his possession.
Preliminary investigation suggests the accused was allegedly carrying the weapon with the intention of committing a cognizable offence and was openly displaying it in violation of prohibitory orders.
Based on a complaint filed by Police Constable Rajesh Varathi, Assistant Police Inspector Sanjay Bansod registered a case at MIDC Police Station under Sections 4 and 25 of the Arms Act along with Section 135 of the Maharashtra Police Act.
The accused has been arrested and further investigation is underway.
