Nagpur: A five-year-old boy from a labourer family in Madhya Pradesh (MP) tragically drowned in a water-filled pit at a construction site in Ajni on Sunday, March 23.

The incident occurred around 6:30 PM in the Sadbhavna Nagar area, behind NIT Garden. The victim, Amit Deven Inwate, was playing near the site where his family resided when he accidentally fell into a pit dug for an elevator installation. The pit had accumulated water, leading to his drowning.

Family members immediately pulled him out and rushed him to a nearby hospital, where doctors declared him dead on arrival.

Following a complaint from the child’s mother, Babita Deven Inwate, a resident of Sarangpur in Seoni district, MP, Ajni police have registered a case of accidental death. Further investigation is underway.
