Metro Mobile Shop at Barakholi Targeted: Jaripatka Police Arrest Two for Mobile Theft

Nagpur: Jaripatka Police have arrested two accused in connection with a burglary at Metro Mobile Shop, a mobile sales and repair store located at Barakholi Chowk, and recovered stolen phones and accessories worth over ₹1.16 lakh.


The complainant, Dinesh Kanhaiyyalal Talreja (40), a resident of Baba Buddhaji Nagar in Pachpaoli, owns Metro Mobile Shop under the jurisdiction of Jaripatka Police Station. According to police, between 10:00 pm on January 26 and 10:30 am on January 27, 2026, unidentified thieves broke the lock of the shop shutter and entered the premises.


The accused stole 35 mobile phones, mobile accessories, three smartwatches, and 30 old and repair phones that had been left by customers. The total value of the stolen property was estimated at ₹2,44,500. Based on Talreja’s complaint, Jaripatka Police registered a case under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) against unknown persons.



Technical Surveillance Leads to Arrest


During the investigation, the Jaripatka Police detection team used technical analysis and reliable information to identify and trace the suspects. The two accused were taken into custody and identified as:


  • Kaushik alias Chimtya Dayashankar Gedam (22), resident of Indora, Misal Layout, Mate Chowk, Jaripatka, Nagpur
  • Hrithik alias Dattu Rajesh Patil (22), resident of Plot No. 709, Kamgar Nagar, Kapil Nagar, Nagpur



During sustained interrogation, both accused confessed to committing the burglary.



Stolen Property Recovered


A house search at the residence of the first accused led to the recovery of 52 old and new mobile phones along with accessories, collectively valued at ₹1,16,600, which were seized as part of the investigation.


Both accused have been arrested, and further investigation is underway to trace the remaining stolen property and determine whether they are linked to other similar offences.



Police Team Behind the Operation


The operation was conducted under the guidance of Additional Commissioner of Police (North Region) Rajendra Dabhade, Deputy Commissioner of Police Dr. Sandeep Pakhale (Zone 6), and Assistant Commissioner of Police Satyaveer Bandiwar (Jaripatka Division).


The detection team included Senior Police Inspector Anil Taksande, Assistant Police Inspector Jitendra Thakur, Head Constable Amit Satpute, and police personnel Anuj Thakur, Vikas Pathak, Sunil Vishwakarma, and Pawan Kamarkar.
