Nagpur: Tehsil police arrested a 22-year-old man for possessing a deadly weapon during night patrolling and registered a case under the Arms Act and Maharashtra Police Act.
According to police, the incident occurred around 10.45 pm on January 7, 2026, when the Tehsil police patrolling team was conducting routine rounds within the police station limits. During patrolling, police received specific information that a man wearing a white shirt and blue jeans was roaming suspiciously with a weapon near Kolba Swami Library.
Acting swiftly on the tip-off, the police team reached the spot along with panch witnesses and cordoned off the area. The suspect matching the description was detained, and upon checking, police recovered a large steel knife from his possession.
During interrogation, the accused identified himself as Surendra alias Kallu Liladhar Hole (22), a resident of Timki, Tehsil area, Nagpur. Police seized the knife valued at approximately Rs 500 from the accused.
As the accused was found carrying the weapon with the intention of committing a cognisable offence and had violated prohibitory orders, PSI Rohan Rane of Tehsil police station registered a case under Sections 4 and 25 of the Arms Act along with Section 135 of the Maharashtra Police Act. The accused has been arrested, and further investigation is underway.
