Nagpur: Ahead of the India vs New Zealand T20 international cricket match scheduled for Wednesday, January 21, 2026, at the Vidarbha Cricket Association (VCA) Stadium, Jamtha, Maha Metro has decided to extend Nagpur Metro train services beyond 10 pm for the convenience of cricket fans.

According to Maha Metro officials, metro services on the match day will operate till midnight (12 am) and may be extended further if required, depending on passenger demand after the match.

In this regard, a joint review meeting was held on Tuesday at Metro Bhavan between Maha Metro Director (Strategic Planning) Anil Kokate, VCA Secretary Sanjay Badkas, and other officials. The meeting focused on ensuring safe, smooth, and fast transportation for spectators attending the high-profile international fixture.

To facilitate last-mile connectivity, Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) buses will operate as feeder services between Khapri Metro Station and VCA Jamtha Stadium. This initiative is expected to significantly reduce traffic congestion on roads leading to the stadium.

On the day of the match, the last metro train will depart from Khapri Metro Station at 12 midnight. However, Maha Metro clarified that services may continue beyond midnight if required to accommodate cricket fans. From Khapri, passengers can travel directly up to Automotive Square or change trains at Sitabuldi Interchange to access any direction on the Aqua Line. Metro trains will operate at 10-minute intervals.

The VCA Jamtha Stadium is located approximately 6 km from Khapri Metro Station and 7 km from New Airport Metro Station. Additionally, paid NMC bus services will be available from New Airport Metro Station for both onward and return journeys.

Appealing to citizens, Maha Metro urged spectators to use metro services extensively to avoid post-match traffic congestion and ensure a safe and hassle-free commute.
