Nagpur: Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis announced that Vidarbha is set for all-round development over the next five years, backed by major industrial investments across manufacturing, services, and green energy sectors.
For the first time, Nagpur has attracted a major automobile industry investment, with Mahindra & Mahindra signing a ₹15,000-crore MoU to establish an integrated automobile manufacturing unit in the city. The agreement marks a significant milestone for Vidarbha’s industrial growth.
The announcement was made at the grand inauguration of “MP Industrial Festival – Advantage Vidarbha 2026”, held at RTM Nagpur University and inaugurated by Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari, in the presence of CM Fadnavis.
Green Steel Hub, Solar Modules & Asia’s Largest Aviation Training Centre
Highlighting Vidarbha’s rapid progress, Fadnavis said:
- The world’s largest Green Steel Hub is being developed in Gadchiroli.
- A major solar module manufacturing unit is coming up in Nagpur.
- Asia’s largest aviation training centre is being built in Amravati, set to be inaugurated in July.
He added that these initiatives signal Vidarbha’s rising prominence in the manufacturing and services sector.
Mahindra to Produce Next-Generation EVs and Tractors in Nagpur
Mahindra & Mahindra’s investment will enable the production of:
- Next-generation electric vehicles
- Advanced tractors
The company also announced:
- A supply hub in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar (Aurangabad)
- An expansion centre in Nashik
This will create one of India’s largest automobile ecosystems across Nagpur, Nashik, and Sambhajinagar, second only to Pune.
₹10,000-Crore EV Investment With German Partner
For the first time, a ₹10,000-crore agreement has been signed for Gigacasting-based three-wheeler electric vehicle manufacturing with German company N Motive. The investment will later expand to ₹2,500 crore and generate:
- 6,000 direct jobs
- 10,000 indirect jobs
Balanced Industrial Growth Through ‘Magnet’ Zones
CM Fadnavis highlighted Maharashtra’s new industrial policy aimed at balanced regional development.
In Vidarbha:
- Nagpur Magnet is supporting development in Gadchiroli, Bhandara, Chandrapur, and Nagpur.
- Amravati Magnet is boosting growth in Yavatmal, Akola, Washim, and Buldhana.
A second textile park is being set up in Amravati, in addition to the expansion of Amravati Airport.
He also emphasized:
- Strengthening of rail and air connectivity
- Progress on the Wainganga–Nalganga river-linking project to make Vidarbha drought-free
- Boosting tourism potential
Union Minister Nitin Gadkari: “5 Lakh Jobs in Vidarbha Over 5 Years”
Union Minister Nitin Gadkari expressed confidence that poverty and unemployment across Vidarbha—from Gadchiroli to Washim—will significantly reduce.
He highlighted:
- ₹7.5 lakh crore investment already brought into Gadchiroli under CM Fadnavis
- Vidarbha’s natural strengths—iron ore, coal, manganese, cotton, oranges, and tourism
- His vision to make Vidarbha prosperous and self-sufficient with skilled manpower and modern infrastructure
Investors Felicitated; Multiple MoUs Signed
During the event:
- Investors contributing to Vidarbha’s development were felicitated
- MoUs were signed with Super Metals Ltd., Mahindra & Mahindra, N Motive India–Germany, and GIDC
- The logo of AID Youth Wing was unveiled
Prominent attendees included Jeet Adani, Padmashri Satyanarayan Nuwal, and senior officials from Maharashtra’s industries department.
