Nagpur: In a heartening incident highlighting efficiency and commitment, Maha Metro officials successfully traced and returned a 3.5-tola gold bracelet that was accidentally lost by a woman commuter at the Sitabuldi Interchange Metro Station.

Smt Shashidevi Mohta, owner of the Gangaur chain of restaurants, had nearly lost hope of recovering the ornament, which held immense emotional value for her. She was pleasantly surprised when Maha Metro officials contacted her and asked her to collect the recovered gold bracelet from the metro station.

The incident occurred when Smt Mohta was travelling by Nagpur Metro from Rahate Colony and was changing platforms at the Sitabuldi Interchange while heading towards Vaishno Devi. During the process, she inadvertently dropped her gold bracelet near Lift No. 4 on Platform 3. She realised the loss only after boarding the train for her onward journey.

Her son promptly lodged a complaint at the Loss and Found section of Maha Metro Nagpur. Acting swiftly, metro officials initiated an inquiry by alerting security staff, interacting with commuters present at the station, and scanning CCTV footage from the area.

Upon reviewing the footage, officials identified that a regular commuter had picked up the bracelet. The individual was seen enquiring with nearby commuters to check if the ornament belonged to anyone before keeping it. He later boarded another train and left the station.

Further investigation revealed that the commuter had used a Maha Card for travel. Using internal records, metro officials traced his contact details and reached out to him. The commuter immediately cooperated and agreed to return the bracelet without any hesitation.

After the ornament was recovered, Maha Metro officials informed Smt Mohta, who deputed her daughter, Smt Preeti Jain, to collect it. The bracelet was formally handed over to her by Shri Sudhakar Urade, General Manager (Operations), Maha Metro. Smt Jain expressed her gratitude to Maha Metro and its officials for their dedicated efforts and for working beyond duty hours to recover the valuable ornament.

The recovery operation was carried out with the coordinated efforts of Shri A.K. Swami, Consultant (Metro Security), Shri Pawan Patil, Station Controller, Shri Ganesh Garkal, Senior Security Inspector, along with other metro staff.

The incident has drawn appreciation from commuters, reinforcing public confidence in the safety, surveillance, and responsiveness of the Nagpur Metro system.
