Nagpur: In a late-night incident, the Gittikhadan Police arrested a 40-year-old man for allegedly abusing his mother-in-law, obstructing police work, and assaulting a police officer inside the police station premises.

The accused, identified as Anil Shriram Nimbulkar alias Sameer Pathan, resident of Jafar Nagar, Mankapur, arrived at the police station around 11:30 pm on February 4 along with his mother-in-law after a domestic dispute. Police reported that the accused was heavily intoxicated and began shouting and using abusive language toward her.

When PSI Chandrakhan Sahebkhan Pathan, who was on night duty, attempted to intervene and calm him down, the accused reportedly turned violent. He allegedly charged at the officer, tore his police uniform, and assaulted him with fists, obstructing him from performing official duties.

Following the attack, the police detained the accused and carried out a medical examination to confirm alcohol intake.

A case has been registered under Sections 132, 115(2), and 351(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) 2023, along with Section 85(1) of the Maharashtra Prohibition Act.

Further investigation is currently underway.
