Nagpur: A late-night liquor party among labourers turned deadly when a 40-year-old man was allegedly beaten to death by his friends after a minor argument on Sunday. The shocking incident took place in Baba Budhaji Nagar, under the jurisdiction of Pachpaoli Police Station.
The deceased has been identified as Ramesh alias Vaidya Mukundrao Masram (40), a resident of Taj Nagar, Vaishali Nagar, near NMC School.
Police have booked his labourer friends — Shankar Shripad Bhaisare (48), resident of Plot No. 43, Baba Budhaji Nagar, Kapil Ramprasad Nagrare (43), resident of Galli No. 3, Shashmooni School, Jaswantsingh Narendrasingh Adi (75), resident of Buddha Nagar, near Hanuman Mandir
Argument Turns Violent
According to police sources, all the labourers were consuming alcohol at Shankar’s house. During the party, a verbal dispute broke out between Ramesh and Shankar. In a fit of rage, Shankar allegedly picked up a wooden stick and struck Ramesh on the head. The blow caused profuse bleeding, resulting in Ramesh collapsing on the spot.
He was immediately rushed to Mayo Hospital, where doctors declared him dead on arrival.
Accused Arrested
Following a complaint lodged by the deceased’s brother, Pachpaoli Police registered a case under Sections 103 and 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita (BNS) and arrested all the accused.
Police sources confirmed that none of the labourers had a prior criminal record. The incident is believed to be the outcome of a drunken brawl.
