Nagpur: In a proactive operation, Imamwada Police apprehended two individuals roaming with illegal firearms and sharp weapons in the Jattarodi area of Nagpur in the early hours of Thursday, May 1.

According to police sources, around 1:55 am, while patrolling the jurisdiction, the police received a tip-off that two men were loitering suspiciously near a roadside kiosk at Indira Nagar, Jattarodi No. 3, close to the old railway line. Acting swiftly, the police reached the location and spotted two men on a black Splendor motorcycle. Upon noticing the approaching patrol, the duo attempted to flee but were chased down and detained near Amol Chumbare’s grocery store.

The accused were identified as Amay Amritlal Dhurve (19), Kamlesh Rajesh Raut (19), both residents of Indira Nagar No. 3, Jattarodi area, Imamwada, Nagpur.

From Kamlesh Raut, a steel cleaver was recovered. A total of seized materials, including the weapons and Splendor motorcycle (MH49 CH 8849), were valued at approximately Rs 83,500.

The accused confessed that the weapon belonged to their friend, Himanshu Roy. Since they were in possession of deadly weapons with the intention of committing a serious crime and in violation of prohibitory orders, a case was registered under Sections 3/25 and 4/25 of the Arms Act, and Section 135 of the Maharashtra Police Act. Both accused have been taken into custody.

The action was executed under the guidance of Commissioner of Police Ravinder Kumar Singal, Additional CP (South) Shivajirao Rathod, DCP (Zone 4) Rashmita Rao, ACP (Sakkardara Division) Narendra Hivare, and by PI Rahul Shire, PSI Nilesh Temgire, and police personnel Ranjit Sakkarwar and Jitendra Chaudhary.
