Hudkeshwar Police Nab 21-Year-Old for Snatching Gold Chain from Wheelchair-Bound Man, Scan 70 CCTVs

Nagpur: In a swift operation, Hudkeshwar police arrested a 21-year-old man for allegedly robbing an elderly person of gold jewellery and cash worth ₹1.85 lakh.


According to reports, the incident occurred between 5:40 pm and 5:55 pm on March 19, when an unidentified suspect forcibly snatched a gold chain with a locket and a purse containing ₹5,000 from 82-year-old Mahendrakumar Ramlalji Verma at his residence in Jawahar Nagar, Hudkeshwar. Verma, who is wheelchair-bound due to his age, was alone at home when the robbery took place.


Based on a complaint filed by his daughter, Adv. Meena Mahendrakumar Verma (62), Hudkeshwar police registered a case under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code.


Police Crack Case Using CCTV Footage:


During the investigation, police analyzed footage from 70 CCTV cameras in the area, which helped them identify the suspect. The accused, identified as Omprakash Dumdev Nikore (21), a resident of Om Nagar, Sakkardara, was apprehended near Prashant Bar on Manewada Road after a well-planned police operation.


Upon interrogation, the suspect confessed to the crime, and police recovered the stolen gold chain and cash, collectively valued at ₹1.85 lakh.


This operation was conducted under the guidance of Commissioner of Police Ravindra Kumar Singal, Joint CP Nisar Tamboli, and DCP Rashmita Rao, with the team led by PI Dnyaneshwar Bhedodkar and comprising Omprakash Bhalavi, Gopal Deshmukh, Sandeep Patil, Santosh Sontakke, Chetan Vaidya, and Dinesh Gadekar.
