Nagpur: In a significant step towards improving last-mile connectivity, Maharashtra Metro Rail Corporation Limited (Maha Metro), in collaboration with Nagpur Municipal Corporation’s (NMC) Transport Department, is set to launch a feeder bus service linking villages in Mouda and Kamptee talukas to the Prajapati Nagar Metro Station.
Until now, residents of these villages had no convenient access to metro stations and limited availability of public transport. Responding to persistent demands from village sarpanchs and citizens for better metro connectivity, Maha Metro has taken the initiative to bridge this gap. The feeder bus service aims to provide comfortable, affordable, and efficient transport options for commuters living in peripheral areas of Nagpur city.
A joint meeting was recently held at Metro Bhavan between Shri Mahesh Morone, Senior Deputy General Manager of Maha Metro’s Multimodal Integration Department, and Shri Rajeev Ghatole, City Bus Operations Manager from NMC, along with officials from both organizations. The decision to commence the feeder service was finalized during this meeting.
The feeder bus service will be officially inaugurated on Monday, May 12, at 8:30 AM at Prajapati Nagar Metro Station, in the presence of local leaders including Lihigaon Sarpanch Smt. Asmita Khandekar, Deputy Sarpanch Shri Mukesh Hiwase, Ghorpad-Shirpur Group Gram Panchayat’s Tara Kadu, and Deputy Sarpanch Shri Aniket Wankhede.
Through this service, villages such as Bharatwada, Pawangaon, Shirpur, Ghorpad, and Kadoli in Kamptee taluka, along with Vadad and nearby villages in Mouda taluka, will now have direct connectivity to the Nagpur Metro network.
Maha Metro has already implemented similar successful services. In collaboration with NMC, it has launched 10 special AC buses from Khapri Metro Station for employees of companies located in Mihan. Feeder buses are also operational from Khapri Station to AIIMS and the National Cancer Institute, and an AC e-bus connects the airport with the Airport Metro Station.
Additionally, feeder buses have been introduced from:
- Prajapati Nagar Station to Symbiosis International University (Wathoda)
- South Airport Station to Palloti Engineering College
- Dharampeth College Station to Nagpur University on Amravati Road
These initiatives have been well-received by commuters, with increasing ridership reflecting public satisfaction with Maha Metro’s expanding and inclusive transportation network.
