Nagpur: In response to rising tensions along national borders and in line with advisories issued by the Ministry of Home Affairs, Civil Defence units of Indian Railways have intensified their disaster preparedness initiatives through mock drills and training sessions.
Under the guidance of the Deputy General Manager & Controller (Civil Defence), Mumbai, and as per instructions from the Divisional Safety Officer and Divisional Emergency Officer (Civil Defence), Nagpur Division, comprehensive mock drills are being organized to train railway staff and create awareness among passengers.
On 08th May 2025, successful mock drills were conducted at Nagpur Railway Station and Lobby. Continuing the momentum, similar exercises are being held on 09th May 2025 at Pulgaon and Wardha railway stations.
The drills include live demonstrations and hands-on training on crucial emergency response techniques such as:
Rescue operations during bomb blasts and air raids
Casualty evacuation during railway accidents
CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation) techniques
Identification of fire types and proper fire extinguishing methods.
These mock drills aim to enhance coordination, response time, and preparedness of railway personnel and passengers during emergencies, thereby reinforcing safety and resilience across the Nagpur Division.
