Nagpur is set to witness an intense wave of protests during the Winter Session 2025, as more than 52 morchas, dharnas, hunger strikes and demonstrations have been scheduled by various organisations, unions, and social groups between December 8 and 14. These groups are raising demands related to jobs, pensions, project-affected people’s rights, community issues, and social justice.
According to official data, the city will see:
- 52 total morchas
- 28 dharnas
- 21 fast-unto-death protests
- 4 self-immolation threats
These numbers reflect the growing frustration among different sections of society ahead of the session.

The morchas will be spread across the week:
- Dec 8: 4 morchas, 14 dharnas, 9 fast-unto-death protests
- Dec 9: 5 morchas, 4 dharnas, 2 self-immolation attempts
- Dec 10: 13 morchas, 5 dharnas, 4 fasts
- Dec 11: 10 morchas, 4 dharnas, 5 fasts
- Dec 12: 15 morchas, 1 dharna, 1 fast
- Dec 13: 3 morchas, 1 dharna

Labour Unions to Lead With 21 Morchas
Labour groups will take out the highest number of protests:
- 21 morchas
- 9 dharnas
- 6 fast-unto-death protests
- 1 self-immolation attempt
RPI and tribal groups will conduct additional morchas, while political parties are also gearing up for protests. Farmers and students will take out two morchas each, raising concerns over issues affecting their communities.
Self-Immolation Warnings
Two farmers from Chhatrapati Sambhaji Nagar and a member of Anna Hazare Vichar Manch from Gadchiroli have threatened self-immolation on December 9 over issues related to alleged fraudulent land records.
Dharna Hotspots: Yeshwant Stadium & Dhantoli
Several organisations will stage dharnas at Yeshwant Stadium and Dhantoli, led by groups like:

- Graduate Part-Time Employees Association
- Old Pension supporters
- School teachers, engineers, Matang Integration Committee
- OBC Mukti Morcha
- Domestic workers’ unions

Traffic & Security Preparations
Most morchas will start from Yeshwant Stadium, moving via Tekdi Road, Morris College T-Point and LIC Square — routes expected to face heavy congestion. Authorities are preparing strict security measures as thousands are expected to participate.
