Nagpur: In a swift and coordinated operation, Nandanvan Police apprehended a murder suspect from Bihar who had fled to Nagpur to evade arrest.

The accused, identified as Mohammad alias Dablu Mohammad Alamgir, aged 42, a resident of Hajipur, Vaishali district, Bihar, was caught near Pathar Nagar, close to the Power House area, around noon on May 7, 2025.

Acting on a tip-off from confidential sources, a police team laid a trap in the area and detained the suspect. Upon interrogation, Alamgir confessed to his involvement in a murder case that occurred on May 3, 2025, in Hajipur Town. The incident reportedly stemmed from a long-standing property dispute, during which Alamgir shot Mohammad Shabbir Alam, a resident of Nunagola, Vaishali, with a country-made firearm. The victim succumbed to his injuries on the spot.

Fearing arrest by the local police in Bihar, Alamgir fled and took shelter in Nagpur. However, his presence was detected by local informants, prompting a swift response by Nandanvan Police. A background check confirmed that a case had been registered against him under Sections 103, 61(2), 3(5), and 27 of the BNS and Arms Act at Hajipur Town Police Station.

Once his identity was verified, the Nagpur police immediately contacted their counterparts in Bihar. Following legal formalities, Alamgir was handed over to the Hajipur Town Police, who arrived in Nagpur to take custody of the accused.

This successful arrest was made under the guidance of Police Commissioner Dr Ravinder Kumar Singal, Joint Commissioner Nisar Tamboli, Additional Commissioner Shivajirao Rathod (South Region), and Deputy Commissioner Rashmita Rao (Zone 4).

The operation was executed by a team led by PI Jaywant Patil, with the assistance of PSI Pravin Raut, and police staff including Lokesh Randive, Dhiraj Thote, Dinesh Juganahake, Pravin Marape, Rahul Khalatkar, and Ramdas Harne.
