Nagpur: Four employees sustained minor burn injuries after a sudden steam leakage occurred in the turbine maintenance section of the Koradi Thermal Power Station in Nagpur district on Wednesday morning. The incident triggered brief panic within the industrial premises.

According to preliminary information, the mishap took place at the 660 MW thermal power generation unit in Koradi while maintenance work was underway in the turbine department. A pipeline carrying high-pressure hot steam reportedly developed an unexpected leak, leading to the rapid release of steam into the surrounding area.

At the time of the incident, four workers were engaged in nearby operations. The sudden discharge of hot steam caused minor burn injuries to their hands and legs, sources said.

The injured employees have been identified as Ravindra Nandurkar (50), Vishal Kamble (40), Rahul Kelkar (35) and Shailesh Meshram (35). All four were immediately shifted to the Primary Health Centre in the Koradi colony for medical treatment. Two of them were discharged after receiving preliminary care, while the remaining workers are reported to be stable.

Senior officials of the power generation unit, including department heads and safety officers, rushed to the spot upon receiving information about the incident. Operations in the concerned turbine maintenance section were temporarily suspended as a precautionary measure.

An internal inquiry has been initiated to ascertain the exact cause of the steam pipeline leakage. The incident led to temporary concern in the industrial area, though authorities confirmed that the situation was swiftly brought under control.
