Nagpur: A decomposed body was discovered in Khairi village under the New Kamptee area on Wednesday, raising suspicions of murder linked to a possible dispute. The identity of the deceased has not yet been established, police said.
According to preliminary information, local residents alerted authorities after noticing a foul smell and spotting a body lying in a severely decomposed condition in an isolated spot of the village. Police personnel rushed to the scene immediately after receiving the information and cordoned off the area for inspection.
Given the condition of the body and initial observations at the spot, investigators suspect that the victim may have been killed following a dispute. However, officials stated that the exact cause of death will only be confirmed after the post-mortem examination.
The body has been sent for autopsy to ascertain the cause and time of death. Efforts are underway to identify the deceased, and police are examining missing persons records in nearby police stations.
