Tehsil Police Arrest Youth for Possessing Deadly Weapon During Night Patrol in Nagpur

Nagpur: Tehsil Police arrested a 23-year-old youth for allegedly carrying a sharp-edged weapon with intent to commit a cognisable offence during a late-night patrol on Tuesday.


According to police sources, at around 12.31 am on March 11, 2026, a detection team from Tehsil Police Station was conducting routine patrolling within its jurisdiction when a youth was spotted moving suspiciously near Timki Topre Well, in front of Kumbhare Bhavan. When police attempted to question him, he tried to flee but was chased and apprehended.


During questioning in the presence of panch witnesses, the accused identified himself as Surendra alias Kallu Liladhar Hole (23), a resident near Kolba Swami Library, Tehsil, Nagpur. A personal search led to the recovery of a sharp iron knife valued at approximately ₹300 from his possession.


Police stated that the accused was carrying the weapon with the intention of committing an offence and had violated prohibitory orders in force. Based on a complaint lodged by Sub-Inspector Sushant Bhagat, an offence under Sections 4 and 25 of the Arms Act along with Section 135 of the Maharashtra Police Act has been registered at Tehsil Police Station. The accused has been arrested and further investigation is underway.
