All Administrative Mechanisms in Nagpur District on High Alert Amid India-Pakistan Tensions; Leaves of Government Staff Cancelled

Nagpur: In view of rising tensions between India and Pakistan, all administrative systems in Nagpur district have been placed on high alert. District Collector and District Magistrate Dr. Vipin Itankar has issued orders directing all government departments to stay vigilant and operational round-the-clock on Saturday, May 10. Leaves of all officers and employees have been cancelled with immediate effect, and presence at headquarters has been made mandatory to ensure immediate response if needed.


A high-level review meeting was held at the Planning Bhavan under the chairmanship of Dr. Itankar to assess preparedness. Key officials including Police Commissioner Ravinder Kumar Singal, NIT Chairman Sanjay Mina, NDRF Director Dr. Hari Om Gandhi, CEO of Zilla Parishad Vinayak Mahamuni, Additional Municipal Commissioners Vasumana Pant and B. Vaishnavi, Acting District SP Ramesh Dhumal, Deputy Conservator of Forests Bharat Singh Hada, and senior officials from the Home Guards, Disaster Response, and Fire Services were present.


Drone Permissions Made Mandatory for Events:


Authorities have clarified that prior permission must be obtained for drone usage during any event. The aim is to prevent misuse and ensure strict surveillance during the current sensitive situation.


Healthcare System on Standby:


All health agencies in the district have been instructed to verify and activate their available resources. Emergency response capabilities such as hospital beds, stretchers, and security arrangements must be fully functional. Additionally, plans are in place to maintain adequate blood supply. Citizens are encouraged to participate in voluntary blood donation drives, as directed by the District Collector.


Strict Action Against Rumour-Mongers: Police Commissioner Singal


Police Commissioner Ravinder Kumar Singal has warned that stringent legal action will be taken against individuals spreading false information or disturbing public harmony via social media. “Any attempt to disrupt peace and law and order will not be tolerated,” said Singal. He also appealed to the public to exercise caution and avoid public misbehavior or unlawful assembly.


Home Guards Put on Alert:


Home Guard units have been instructed to remain prepared to provide assistance in both safety and healthcare-related scenarios. Dr. Itankar emphasized that maintaining calm, peace, and communal harmony is a primary responsibility of every alert citizen.


Public Advised to Follow Verified Government Channels:


Citizens are advised to rely only on official government platforms for updates. Verified videos and instructions on emergency protocols are being circulated through social media by the District Information Office to prevent misinformation.


Essential Services to Function Smoothly:


Dr. Itankar instructed civic bodies—Nagpur Municipal Corporation, municipal councils, and panchayats—to ensure uninterrupted delivery of essential services such as drinking water, electricity, public healthcare, and food supply. Department heads have been told to cooperate closely and operate with enhanced responsibility.


Fuel Supplies Adequate; No Need to Panic:


The district administration assured that there is no shortage of petrol, diesel, or cooking gas. Citizens have been urged not to indulge in panic buying and to purchase fuel only as per routine needs.
