Nagpur: A 30-year-old man lost his life after a speeding travel bus allegedly hit a moped and fled the spot in the Wathoda police station area of Nagpur.
According to police, the incident occurred around 10:30 pm on June 22 near Kullarkar Complex on Dighori Chowk–Umred Road.
Complainant Bhupendra Dinesh Devhare (50), resident of Tuljai Nagar, Hudkeshwar, stated that he was travelling triple-seat on a moped (MH-31-BE-1837) along with his relative Shubham Hariram Tarare (30) and another friend who was driving.
During the journey, a white travel bus approaching from behind allegedly rammed into the moped while being driven at high speed and in a negligent manner before fleeing the scene.
Shubham sustained serious injuries and was rushed to Government Medical College and Hospital, where doctors declared him dead.
Based on the complaint, Wathoda Police registered a case against the unidentified bus driver under Sections 106(1) and 281 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) along with relevant provisions of the Motor Vehicles Act (Sections 134, 177, and 184).
Further investigation is underway.
