Nagpur: In a heartwarming gesture this Rakshabandhan, New Kamptee police reached out to Nagpur Metro construction workers and sanitation staff, ensuring they did not miss the festive warmth despite being far from home.

Under the guidance of Deputy Commissioner of Police, Zone 5, Niketan Kadam, and the initiative of Police Inspector Mahesh Andhale, female police personnel visited Phase II Metro construction sites along the Kamptee–Nagpur line and sanitation work locations to celebrate the festival with the workers.

The “sisters in khaki” tied rakhis to the workers, distributed sweets, and presented gifts, creating moments of joy for those who have been working tirelessly for the city’s infrastructure and cleanliness. Many workers, away from their families for months, became emotional as they shared how the gesture reminded them of home and family bonds.

Sanitation workers, whose efforts keep the city clean and hygienic, were also honoured during the event. Female officers tied rakhis to them as a mark of respect and appreciation for their vital contribution to public health.

PI Mahesh Andhale said, “While the police work to maintain law and order, these workers are the true guardians of the city’s cleanliness and development. Celebrating with them is our way of acknowledging their dedication and sacrifices.”

The celebrations were made possible through the dedicated efforts of PSI Akhilesh Rai Thakur, NPCs Dipti Motghare, Rajeshree Elkurwar, and other staff members, who ensured the festive spirit reached those working tirelessly behind the scenes to keep Nagpur moving and clean.
