Nagpur: Pachpaoli Police arrested two individuals in separate incidents on Monday, July 21, for illegally carrying deadly weapons in Vaishali Nagar area. The arrests were made during routine patrolling operations.
In the first incident, around 8:40 am, the police team received a tip-off that a man was brandishing a weapon near Ambedkar Garden, Vaishali Nagar.
Acting swiftly, the police reached the location and found a youth creating public nuisance with a sharp object. He was immediately overpowered, disarmed, and detained. The accused has been identified as Nikhil Rajesh Nandeshwar (20), a resident of Barse Nagar, Pachpaoli. A steel knife worth ₹500 was recovered from his possession.
In another operation around 9:50 am, the same patrol team noticed a suspicious man trying to flee on seeing the police near the railway line behind Vivan Lawn, Vaishali Nagar. He was chased and caught. A search in the presence of witnesses revealed a folding knife worth ₹1,000 hidden in his back pocket. Police suspect both men were carrying the weapons with the intent to commit a cognizable offense.
Cases have been registered under Section 4/25 of the Indian Arms Act along with Section 135 of the Maharashtra Police Act at Pachpaoli Police Station. Both accused have been placed under arrest, and further investigation is ongoing.
