Nagpur: Dhantoli Police have registered a case against two undertrial prisoners lodged in Nagpur Central Prison for allegedly abusing a jail officer, threatening to kill him, and obstructing him from performing his official duties.
The accused have been identified as Deepak alias Khattya Ramkrishna Nichakkar (41), a resident of Shrikrishna Nagar, Hingna, and Nadir Khan Atik Khan Pathan (28), a resident of Galli No. 3, near Chhoti Masjid, Hasanbagh, under Nandanvan Police Station limits.
According to the FIR, the complainant, Waman Tukaram Nimje, is serving as a Grade-I Jail Officer at Nagpur Central Prison.
Police said that on July 14, 2026, at around 5.35 pm, while the jail officer was on duty inside the prison premises, the two undertrial inmates allegedly acted in connivance with each other and abused him using obscene language. They also allegedly threatened to kill him and created obstruction in the discharge of his official duties.
Based on the complaint, Dhantoli Police registered an FIR against both accused under Sections 351(3), 3(5), 296 and 221 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
Further investigation is underway.
