Nagpur: A reckless truck driver caused a fatal accident on Monday, February 24 around 8:30 pmnear Aathwa Mile Chowk to Navneet Nagar Turning, Wadi, resulting in the death of two individuals.

The victims, identified as Ramesh Karulalji Katre (47), a construction contractor from Kachimet, Wadi, and Dhanraj Kalicharan Darvarkar (30) from Chutka, Madhya Pradesh, were riding a Hero Honda Splendor (MH 31 EJ 9831) when a speeding truck (MH 40 BL 6012) rammed into them. The truck driver, Sunil Udaysingh Kumbhare (40) from Ramtek, fled the scene, abandoning the vehicle.

Ramesh Katre died on the spot after the truck ran over him, while Dhanraj Darvarkar succumbed to his injuries during treatment at Mayo Hospital.

Following a complaint by Manish Dinesh Sharanagat (22) from Ganesh Nagar, Dabha, Wadi police registered a case against the truck driver under Sections 281, 106(1) of BNS, and Sections 134, 177 of the Motor Vehicles Act. Further investigation is ongoing.
