Nagpur: Sonali Gedam from Gadchiroli district has become the first beneficiary of the Chief Minister's Youth Work Training Scheme in Maharashtra. The scheme aims to appoint 29,500 candidates across the division, with 8,847 candidates already registered, according to Divisional Commissioner Vijayalakshmi Bidari.
Chief Minister Eknath Shinde reviewed the scheme's implementation via videoconference, highlighting Nagpur division's proactive role in executing the program. The scheme includes the registration of 80 establishments, both private and government, prioritizing the training of registered candidates.
Commissioner Bidari congratulated the Gadchiroli district administration for making the first appointment under the scheme. She urged other district officials to take initiative in effectively implementing the program and achieving the set targets.
Sonali Gedam, a resident of Dhanora with a B.Sc. and MS-CIT qualification, has been appointed as a data entry operator in the District Social Welfare Officer's office. She will receive a stipend of ₹10,000 per month for six months. The Mahaswayam portal has registered 8,847 candidates from the division, including 3,692 from Nagpur, 855 from Wardha, 966 from Bhandara, 1,866 from Gondia, 1,174 from Chandrapur, and 294 from Gadchiroli.
The scheme, run by the Commissionerate of Skill Development, Employment, and Entrepreneurship, aims to provide the required workforce for businesses, with the state government allocating ₹5,500 crore for this initiative. Candidates with a minimum age of 18 and a maximum age of 35 are eligible, with different stipend levels based on educational qualifications. High school graduates receive ₹6,000, ITI or degree holders receive ₹8,000, and postgraduate degree holders receive ₹10,000 per month.
Interested candidates and businesses can register on the portal rojgar.mahaswayam.gov.in, where businesses can also list their manpower requirements. Commissioner Bidari encouraged maximum youth participation in the scheme, with 1,758 positions notified across 80 establishments, including 11 private and 69 government organizations.
