Nagpur: In a major crackdown under Operation Thunder, the Hudkeshwar Police arrested two individuals in possession of mephedrone (MD) powder worth ₹1.2 lakh late on June 22. The accused were caught near Bahadura Phata on Umred Road, close to Sanjuba School, while attempting to sell the drug.
Acting on a tip-off, police intercepted a white Chevrolet car (MH 40 A 7861) parked suspiciously in front of Shiv Namkeen Farshan Center. During the search, police identified the accused as Firoz Khan (30) and Naziyah Parveen Firoz Khan (26), both residents of Beldaar Nagar, Hudkeshwar.
A total of 12.01 grams of MD powder was seized, along with ₹5,600 in cash, two mobile phones, an electric weighing machine, and the vehicle. The total seizure is valued at ₹6.46 lakh.
Police have registered a case under Sections 8(c), 21(b), and 29 of the NDPS Act at Hudkeshwar Police Station. The arrests were made under the guidance of Commissioner of Police Dr. Ravinder Kumar Singal, and senior officers including Additional CP Shivajirao Rathod, DCP Rashmita Rao, and ACP Narendra Hiware.
