Nagpur: A casual remark about a friend receiving frequent calls from his wife allegedly triggered a violent altercation in Nagpur’s Ganeshpeth area, leaving a 26-year-old man with a serious injury near his left eye.
According to the complaint registered at Ganeshpeth Police Station, the incident took place around 11.45 pm on October 21. The victim, Shashank Chandrahans Verma, a resident of Lodhipura, works in Pune and was visiting Nagpur.
Verma was with his friends — Akku Gaur (37), Gajendra Sahu (48), Shubham Gupta (33) and Laxmikant Gupta (52) — when they went to collect Mahaprasad. During this time, one of the men received a phone call from his wife.
Verma reportedly remarked that the man’s wife called him frequently. The comment allegedly angered the group, and the four men assaulted him with fists and kicks.
During the attack, one of the accused allegedly kicked Verma near his left eye, causing a serious injury. He subsequently received medical attention and approached the police.
Ganeshpeth police have registered a case against the four accused under relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). Further investigation is underway.
