Nagpur: In the run-up to the Maharashtra Assembly elections, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi took a moment to enjoy Nagpur’s iconic tarri poha on Saturday. The senior Indian National Congress leader was joined by Nagpur South West candidate Praful Gudhade and other senior party leaders during the visit to the popular eatery.
Nagpur’s tarri poha, a savory dish made of flattened rice topped with a spicy chickpea curry, is a staple of the city’s food culture. Its unique blend of flavors has made it a favourite not only among locals but also visitors who relish the fiery and hearty breakfast.
Often served with crunchy farsan and onions on the side, tarri poha is as much a part of Nagpur’s identity as its famed oranges. For locals, it’s not just food but an emotion, celebrated in homes, street-side stalls, and renowned eateries alike.
With elections around the corner, in a bid to add momentum, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, Rahul Gandhi’s sister, is set to lead a bike rally on Sunday in support of Congress’s Nagpur West candidate, Vikas Thakare.
The Maharashtra Assembly elections will be conducted in a single phase on November 20, with the results slated to be declared on November 23.
