Nagpur: Known as the ‘search man’ and ‘knight in khaki’, Head Constable (HC) Sudhir Khubalkar has earned a reputation for his tireless efforts in tracing missing persons across Nagpur. With over 150 missing persons—majority of them women—successfully located during his tenure at Shantinagar and Sakkardara police stations, Khubalkar is now set to be honoured with the prestigious Director General (DG) Insignia Award on Maharashtra Day for his exceptional service.

Khubalkar’s dedication has been previously acknowledged by Commissioner of Police Dr. Ravinder Kumar Singal, who felicitated him for his relentless efforts in reuniting missing individuals—ranging from children and teenagers to senior citizens—with their families.

Speaking about his experiences, HC Khubalkar shared, “Most women leave home due to distress—some with their children—while teenagers often flee following arguments. Many cases involve elderly individuals, mentally unstable persons, or those battling depression.”

Khubalkar also highlighted the rising challenges posed by social media in tracking missing teenage girls. “Social media illusions often lure girls into emotional traps. Many girls stop making phone calls and shift entirely to platforms like WhatsApp and Instagram, which limits the use of Call Detail Records (CDRs) in locating them. These platforms have made it tougher to trace them quickly,” he explained.

In 2024 alone, Khubalkar has traced over 100 missing persons, crediting his success to support from senior officials and the encouragement received from Commissioner Singal. Currently posted at Sakkardara police station, he continues to serve in the Missing Persons Cell with the same commitment that has defined his career.

The DG Insignia Award stands as a formal recognition of HC Khubalkar’s exemplary conduct and bravery in police service.
