Nagpur, 25 May 2025: A day meant for celebration turned into an unexpected emergency for the nursing team from American Oncology Institute (AOI), Nagpur, as they stepped in to save a young girl from drowning.
The team had gathered at Dream Asia Water Park to mark International Nurses Day with a well-earned break. While enjoying the day, they noticed a young girl lying unconscious in the water. Without hesitation, Staff Nurse Ms. Komal Bhagat jumped in and pulled the girl out. She was immediately joined by Senior Staff Nurse Ms. Priyanka Landge, who began performing CPR. As the situation remained critical, nurses Ms. Payal and Ms. Kiran took turns with CPR for more than 10 minutes until the child began to respond and her condition stabilized.
Their presence of mind, teamwork, and professional skills made all the difference in that critical moment.
This incident highlights the sense of responsibility nurses carry with them—whether inside a hospital or outside. Even during their own time off, they didn’t think twice before stepping in to help someone in need. It’s a powerful reminder of the role nurses play in protecting lives, wherever they are.
