Nagpur: Jaripatka Police have registered a case against a 36-year-old man for allegedly abusing and assaulting a 65-year-old woman with an iron rod following a dispute over her address during a parcel delivery in the Hudco Colony area.

The accused has been identified as Chandraprakash alias Bhanu Humanshu Rai, a resident of Ahuja Nagar in Hudco Colony. The 65-year-old complainant is a homemaker and lives in the same locality.

According to the police complaint, the victim had ordered a parcel on September 16. When the delivery executive arrived and sought directions to her address, he reportedly asked Rai, who lives nearby, about the location.

Police said Rai allegedly told the woman to provide her address correctly and remarked that “this is your usual practice.” A dispute reportedly followed, during which the accused allegedly abused and assaulted her with an iron rod, striking her on the chest and face.

The victim sustained injuries and was taken to Mayo Hospital for treatment.

Based on her complaint, Jaripatka Police registered a case under Sections 118(1), 296 and 351(3) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).

Police are conducting further investigation.
