Nagpur: Traffic police intercepted a truck transporting 70 bulls without valid documents after it attempted to speed past a no-entry point near Gondkhari on Thursday.
Officials reported that the vehicle, bearing registration number UP 21 DT 3656, ignored the no-entry restriction and was heading towards Nagpur at high speed. When stopped, officers noticed the truck’s number plate was covered, raising further suspicion.
On inspection, police discovered a large number of bulls packed inside the vehicle. The driver told authorities that the animals had been loaded in Sagar (Madhya Pradesh) and were being transported to Hyderabad. However, he failed to produce any valid permits or health certificates required for transporting cattle.
The truck and livestock have been taken into custody while further investigation is underway. Police are verifying whether the transport violates the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act and state regulations governing interstate cattle movement.
