Nagpur: The district administration on Thursday, September 11, directed all departments to ensure comprehensive facilities for devotees visiting Deekshabhoomi and Dragon Palace during the upcoming Dhammachakra Pravartan Din celebrations next month.

At a high-level review meeting held at the city Police Commissioner’s office, officials emphasized the need for adequate health, safety, sanitation, food, and drinking water arrangements to cater to thousands of followers arriving from across Maharashtra, different parts of India, and abroad.

Nagpur Police Commissioner Ravinder Kumar Singal, Municipal Commissioner Dr. Abhijit Chaudhari, and District Collector Dr. Vipin Itankar chaired the meeting, which was attended by former minister Adv. Sulekha Kumbhare, Deekshabhoomi Smarak Committee members Dr. Sudhir Phulzhele and Dr. Rajendra Gavai, along with senior officials from various civic and state departments.

Authorities reviewed department-wise plans to maintain cleanliness at Deekshabhoomi and Dragon Palace premises, deploy additional sanitation workers, and ensure an uninterrupted supply of drinking water and public conveniences such as toilets and bathing facilities. Extra attention will also be given to railway stations and bus stands to manage the heavy influx of visitors.

The administration stressed that every pilgrim should have easy access to essential amenities so they can participate in the historic Buddhist event with comfort and dignity. Dhammachakra Pravartan Din marks the day Dr. B.R. Ambedkar embraced Buddhism in 1956, drawing lakhs of followers to Nagpur each year.
