Nagpur: The Nagpur Municipal Corporation on Tuesday paid heartfelt tributes to Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar on the occasion of his birth anniversary, marking the day with ceremonial events across the city.
At the Mayor’s office, Mayor Nita Thakare offered floral tributes to the portrait of Dr. Ambedkar, honouring his immense contribution as the architect of the Indian Constitution. The ceremony was attended by Deputy Mayor Leela Hathibed, Municipal Commissioner Dr. Vipin, corporator Abhijeet Prabhukant Jha, Additional Commissioners Vaishnavi B and Ankit, along with Deputy Commissioners Nirbhay Jain, Ashok Garate, and Mangesh Khawale. Medical Health Officer Dr. Deepak Selokar was also present.
Later, a similar tribute ceremony was held at Samvidhan Square, where Mayor Nita Thackeray offered garlands at the full-length statue of Dr. Ambedkar. Several dignitaries, including Deputy Mayor Leela Hathibed, Standing Committee Chairperson Shivani Dani-Wakhare, Commissioner Dr. Vipin, and Infrastructure and Projects Committee Chairperson Ashwini Jichkar, participated in the tribute.
Corporators Vinay Dani and Sunil Hiranwar, along with senior civic officials, also offered floral tributes, remembering Dr. Ambedkar’s enduring legacy and his role in shaping modern India.
The commemorative events were marked by solemn respect and collective remembrance of Dr. Ambedkar’s ideals and vision.
