Nagpur: A New Year’s Eve domestic dispute ended in tragedy in Yashodhara Nagar, where a 33-year-old woman was allegedly beaten to death by her husband following a quarrel over money. The accused has been arrested by Yashodhara Nagar Police within hours of the incident.
The deceased, Rameshwari Devendra Maneshwar, originally from Balaghat district in Madhya Pradesh, was residing in Kinkhede Layout, Nagpur, with her husband Devendra Maneshwar (38). According to the police, the accused frequently suspected his wife’s character, demanded money, and subjected her to physical abuse after consuming alcohol.
On December 31, 2025, around 9.30 pm, an argument escalated into violence, during which the accused allegedly assaulted his wife severely, leaving her unconscious. She was rushed to Mayo Hospital, where doctors declared her dead during treatment.
Based on a complaint filed by the victim’s brother Ramkishor Madhu Pache, Yashodhara Nagar Police registered a case under Section 103(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). The accused was immediately taken into custody, and further investigation is underway.
