Nagpur: A 65-year-old man was killed and his wife critically injured after a speeding motorcycle hit them while they were crossing the road near Shahu Restaurant on the Saoner-Nagpur Highway.
The deceased has been identified as Manik Chhotelal Muchhawad, while his wife Lakshmi (55) is undergoing treatment at Mayo Hospital. The incident occurred around 1 pm on August 29, when the couple was on their way to a jewellery shop.
Police said the motorcycle, a Bajaj Pulsar (MH 16 BS 7913), was being ridden rashly by Rakesh Tukaram Mallewar (27), resident of Vaivada, Gondia. Both victims were thrown to the ground and sustained serious injuries. While locals rushed them to Mayo Hospital, doctors declared Manik dead.
Based on a complaint filed by their son, Koradi Police booked the accused motorcyclist for rash and negligent driving under relevant sections of the BNS. Further investigation is underway.
