Nagpur Central Jail Inmate Escaped from Medical Hospital

Nagpur: An undertrial prisoner from Nagpur Central Jail managed to escape from Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) in the early hours of May 18, Sunday. The inmate, identified as Harsh Mahendra Ramteke (23), a resident of Bhandara, was undergoing treatment in Ward No. 36 when he fled around 2:30 am.


According to police sources, Ramteke was facing trial in a housebreaking case and was admitted to the hospital for medical reasons. At the time of his escape, he was wearing a light pink T-shirt with black stripes.


Following the incident, law enforcement agencies have launched a manhunt to trace the absconding prisoner. Local police have been alerted, and CCTV footage from the hospital premises is being reviewed as part of the investigation.


Authorities are urging citizens to contact the nearest police station if they spot an individual matching Ramteke’s description. Further details are awaited.
