Nagpur: The Nagpur Bench of the Bombay High Court has directed all government-recognised schools across Nagpur district to submit details of their Transport Committee meetings held over the last two years along with a complete list of buses and other vehicles used for student transportation. The court has warned that schools failing to comply with the order may face a fine of ₹50,000.

The directive applies to primary, secondary, and higher secondary schools affiliated with the State Board, CBSE, ICSE, and other recognised educational boards operating in Nagpur district.

The order has been issued in connection with directions passed by the High Court on February 16, March 6, and March 17, 2026, in Public Interest Litigation (PIL) No. 2 of 2012, which is currently pending before the Nagpur Bench.

As part of the compliance requirements, schools have been instructed to provide records of all Transport Committee meetings conducted during the past two years. In addition, institutions must submit a complete inventory of buses and other vehicles deployed for transporting students.

The High Court has made it mandatory for schools to file the required information through an affidavitbefore the Nagpur Bench ahead of the next hearing scheduled for June 18, 2026.

Issuing a public notice, Divisional Deputy Director of Education Dr. Madhuri Sawarkar appealed to all school principals, headmasters, and management authorities across Nagpur district to ensure timely submission of the required records to avoid penalties.

The move is aimed at strengthening oversight of student transport safety and regulatory compliance in schools, an issue that has remained under judicial scrutiny through the ongoing public interest litigation.
