Kalamna Police Arrest Two Youths for Possessing Sword and Knives in Nagpur

Nagpur: Kalamna Police arrested two youths and seized a sword and two large knives during a raid conducted in Gulmohar Nagar, police officials said.


The action was initiated on the evening of June 14 after police received specific information that a young man was illegally storing weapons at his residence near Sheetla Mata Temple in Kalamna.


Acting on the tip-off, a police team conducted a search at the house of Kunal Mohan Banjare (19). During the search, officers recovered a sharp steel sword concealed beneath a bed.


During questioning, Banjare informed police that he had obtained the weapon from his associate, Tarun alias Shivam Shatrughna Verma (23), also a resident of Gulmohar Nagar.


Police subsequently searched Verma's residence and recovered two large knives with steel blades. The seized weapons are collectively valued at approximately Rs 6,600.


Investigators said the accused were allegedly possessing the weapons with the intention of committing a cognizable offence and had violated prohibitory orders in force.


A case has been registered under the Arms Act and relevant provisions of the Maharashtra Police Act. Both accused have been arrested and further investigation is underway.
