Nagpur: A 28-year-old man reportedly ended his life after launching a murderous attack on a woman in the early hours of Thursday, December 4. The shocking incident took place around 3:30 am under the jurisdiction of Nandanvan Police Station.

The deceased has been identified as Balaji Kalyane, a native of Nanded. He was preparing for police recruitment exams and was staying on rent in Nagpur.

According to police sources, the woman is a close family member of Kalyane. He allegedly wanted to marry her, but her father strongly opposed the relationship. When the accused tried to convince them, both the woman and her father refused to entertain his proposal. Enraged, Kalyane allegedly barged into the victim’s house around 3 am on Thursday and launched a knife attack on the woman.

After the assault, he reportedly died by suicide. However, police are verifying whether it was a case of suicide or if any foul play was involved. The woman has been admitted to a local hospital and is undergoing treatment.

Nandanvan Police have registered a case and further investigations are underway.
