Nagpur: Sitabuldi Police have registered a case against an unidentified burglar who broke into a senior citizen’s flat in Gorepeth and decamped with cash and jewellery worth ₹3.69 lakh.
The incident occurred on December 2, between 10 am and 4 pm, when the complainant, 75-year-old Vilas Madhavrao Bobade, had locked his house and gone with his family to attend a relative’s wedding in Khamla.
Taking advantage of the family’s absence, the intruder reportedly broke the lock and latch of the main door of Flat No. 101, Vijay Apartment, Plot No. G/118, and gained entry. The burglar then targeted the bedroom cupboard, stealing ₹5,000 in cash along with gold and silver ornaments collectively valued at ₹3,69,000.
Based on the complaint filed by Bobade, API Amol Gore registered a case at Sitabuldi Police Station under Sections 305(a) and 331(3) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. Further investigation is underway to identify and trace the accused.
