Nagpur: In a swift breakthrough, Dhantoli Police apprehended three men involved in a ₹70,000 armed robbery targeting a cash pickup agent, following a critical inside tip provided by an employee of Getwell Pharmacy. The incident occurred on June 3, Monday, and all suspects have been arrested.
The complainant, employed with SIS Prosegur Holdings Pvt. Ltd. as a cash pickup agent, was assigned to collect money from clients and deposit it in the bank. On the day of the incident, after collecting ₹70,000 in cash from Getwell Hospital’s pharmacy, the agent was en route to the bank when he was followed by two unknown assailants on a saffron-coloured Honda Dio scooter.
Accused Tushar alias Dharma Ranjit Meshram (20), and Sameer Vijay Kawle (22), intercepted the agent near the hospital. Brandishing a knife, they threatened the victim and forcefully snatched a bag containing ₹70,000 cash and important documents before fleeing the scene.
Following the FIR registered under Sections 309(4) and 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023 at Dhantoli Police Station, the police launched an intensive investigation. Using footage from over 100 CCTV cameras and advanced technical analysis, the police first tracked and apprehended Tushar Meshram. His interrogation led to the arrest of co-accused Sameer Kawle.
During further questioning, it was revealed that Accused Aman Dadarao Todsam (24), an employee at Getwell Pharmacy, had tipped off the robbers about the cash movement, making him a conspirator in the crime. He was arrested for his indirect but crucial role in facilitating the robbery.
The police recovered stolen items, including ₹70,000 in cash, the knife used in the robbery, and the scooter used during the crime—collectively valued at ₹1,05,100. All three accused have been remanded to police custody till June 8 for further investigation.
