Nagpur: In a daring daylight bag-lifting incident, three youths — including a minor — looted ₹4.36 lakh in cash from a company employee at knifepoint near Ambedkar Nagar’s Kacchi Road in Wadi. The robbery took place around 1 pm on Tuesday, June 17, sending shockwaves through the local police department. Acting swiftly, Wadi Police apprehended all three accused within two hours of the crime.
The victim, Vedprakash Lajpatprasad Shukla (31), a resident of Kalamna, works for Soham Corporation Pvt. Ltd. in MIDC. He was on his way to deposit company funds into the bank and was carrying ₹4,36,350 in cash on a two-wheeler (MH 49 BD 2860) towards HDFC Bank, Wadi.
As Shukla reached near the crematorium at Chandramani Chowk, Ambedkar Nagar, three individuals intercepted him and threatened him with a knife, forcibly snatching the cash bag.
Based on his complaint, Wadi Police registered an FIR under Sections 309(4) and 3(5) of the BNs and launched a swift investigation. The accused — Aryan Harish Walde (18), Ankit Siddharth Vaidya (20), both residents of Chandramani Chowk, and their juvenile accomplice — were traced and taken into custody within two hours of the incident.
Police are now investigating whether the trio is involved in any other similar offences in the city.
