Crime Branch Unit 3 Arrests Man Carrying Deadly Weapon in Kotwali

Nagpur: Nagpur: Acting on suspicious movement, Crime Branch Unit 3 arrested a 30-year-old man for allegedly carrying a deadly weapon in Kotwali on Monday evening. The team was patrolling near Saai Dham, Nandaji Nagar, around 6.45 pm when they spotted the suspect attempting to flee.


He was chased and detained, and later identified as Akshay alias Alu Anil Kadu, a resident of Nandaji Nagar. A search conducted before witnesses led to the recovery of a steel knife worth ₹300, concealed inside the waistband of his trousers.


Police said the accused was carrying the weapon with the intent to commit a cognizable crime and had also violated prohibitory orders enforced in the area. He has been booked under Sections 4/25 of the Arms Act and Section 135 of the Maharashtra Police Act at Kotwali Police Station. The accused has been handed over to Kotwali Police for further investigation.


The action was carried out under the guidance of Police Commissioner Ravinder Kumar Singal, Joint CP Navinchandra Reddy, Additional CP (Crime) Vasant Pardeshi, DCP (Detection) Rahul Mankinikar, and ACP (Crime Branch) Abhijeet Patil. The operation team included PI Mahesh Sagade, PSI Madhukar Kathoke, Amit Deshmukh, Santosh Singh Thakur, Deepak Lakde and Jitesh Reddy.
