Crime Branch Unit-2 Arrests Youth Carrying Deadly Weapon in Gittikhadan

Nagpur: In a swift action, Crime Branch Unit No. 2 of Nagpur Police arrested a 22-year-old youth for carrying a deadly weapon with the intention of committing a cognizable offence in the Gittikhadan area.


The incident occurred on January 9, 2026, around 7.40 pm, when the Crime Branch Unit-2 team was on routine patrolling within the jurisdiction of Gittikhadan police station. At K.T. Nagar Square, the police noticed a suspicious individual who attempted to flee upon spotting the patrol team. The police chased and apprehended him.


During interrogation in the presence of panch witnesses, the accused identified himself as Suraj Pramod Tembhurkar (22), a resident of Vishwas Nagar, Gittikhadan. A personal search led to the recovery of an iron knife concealed inside his pants at the waist. The seized weapon is valued at approximately Rs 200.


As the accused was found carrying the weapon with criminal intent and had violated prohibitory orders, a case was registered against him at Gittikhadan police station under Sections 4 and 25 of the Arms Act along with Section 135 of the Maharashtra Police Act. The accused was arrested and handed over to Gittikhadan police for further investigation.


The operation was carried out under the guidance of Additional Commissioner of Police (Crime) Vasant Pardeshi, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Detection) Rahul Maknikar, and Assistant Commissioner of Police (Crime Branch) Abhijit Patil.
